[RE]COMPOST

  • Alan Thomas Music Shell 61 Azelia Road Spearwood, WA, 6163 Australia (map)

Step into a world where art and nature converge. [RE]COMPOST is an immersive site-specific installation that activates the dystopian "public green space" using cutting-edge generative sound technology.

By connecting two diodes to a plant and harnessing a delicate electrical signal, we unveil the plant's secrets. Its resistance dances in enigmatic patterns, responding to touch, light, and sound.

Join sound artists Leisl Lucerne-Knight and August Pope in ceremonial sonic symbiosis to reignite connections between fellow organisms on Sunday April 7, 3pm – 5.30pm at a Secret Outdoor Location to be revealed.

The Secret Outdoor Location is now revealed!

Head down to  Alan Thomas Music Shell (linked to google maps) for [RE]COMPOST.
Please bring along your own rugs and pillows for this performance!

About Leisl Lucerne-Knight:

LEISL LK (they/them) is an emerging multidisciplinary maker and wrangler of chaos based in Boorloo where they completed a Bachelor of Performing Arts (Performance Making) at WAAPA. Their work is a writhing batter of queer absurdity where drag, clowning, puppetry, and installation all fold into one beautifully ludicrous cake. Recent projects include XXHornySlug69XX (Marli Jupiter) at pvi collectives Kiss Club (2023) and The Blue Room Theatre’s 2024 Summer Nights Program. The Late Great Andrew Tate (Sailing with Styx) for TBRT’s 2024 Summer Nights. The State (Rhiannon Bryan & Marli Jupiter) for TBRT’s 600 Seconds (2023) and in residence at Spare Parts Puppet Theatre (2023). They will then head to Naarm to remount The State as part of Theatre Works’s annual Fresh Works program in 2024.

About August Pope:

August Pope (they/them) is an up and coming Boorloo based noisemaker currently studying Composition and Music Technology at WAAPA. Experimenting with elements of noise, Musique Concrete, ritual practice and industrial aesthetics they can be seen frequently performing at The Bird with organisers such as NOIZMASCHIN!! and Hearts of Darkness. Recent sightings include collaborations with Tone List organised concerts such as Unbecoming and The Walyalup Weekend of Improvised Music, and a co- organised edition of ALTs Experimental Series showcasing an eclectic mix of experimental music practices.
